January 17th-22nd: Breakfast

Every morning, we woke up to a continental breakfast in the lobby of the Holiday Inn Express. When it comes to food, I have two favorite items, cheeseburgers and continental breakfast, so I was in hog heaven every morning. I would indulge in a plate full of eggs and sausage, a gooey cinnamon roll, and a bowl of cereal every morning. While I admit I splurged on breakfast everyday, and didn’t quite eat as “healthy and organic” as I originally planned for this trip, I just found it impossible to say no to all of my favorite breakfast foods. I have experienced a lot of continental breakfasts all around the country, but I must admit, this was one of the best so far. Every morning I was guaranteed to be greeted by a cupboard full of warm, sugary cinnamon rolls, sitting under the heater, with the icing beginning to melt, calling my name. The Holiday Inn Express was even kind enough to not only make scrambled eggs every morning, but they put in the extra effort to make delicious omelets as well. And as for the sausage patties, my favorite breakfast meat, they were made to perfection. By the end of the week, I was beginning to get creative with my breakfast routine by mixing all of my favorite items together, to make a breakfast sandwich. The omelet and the sausage patties were the perfect combination between a lightly toasted English muffin. The only complaint I do have about the breakfast at the hotel was the juice selection. There is nothing better than a nice glass of orange juice in the morning, but, for some reason, the juice machine at the Holiday Inn Express never seemed to have the right mixture of fake ingredients. Some mornings the juice was too watery, and some days it was too sour. There was only one day, the whole time I was there, that the juice was the right combination. I know this wasn’t the ideal breakfast every morning for someone who was looking at where her food was coming from, but I couldn’t resist the temptation of a free continental breakfast.
